Working and Living in Champaign-Urbana
Champaign and Urbana, Illinois, are twin cities located in Central Illinois at about 130 miles (about 200 km) south of Chicago and 100 miles (160 km) west of Indianapolis, Indiana. The population of Champaign-Urbana is about 110,000 people while the population of the county and of the surrounding six counties reaches about 500,000 inhabitants. Champaign-Urbana is home to the University of Illinois with about 45,000 students. The presence of the highly rated university contributes to make Champaign-Urbana one of the fastest-growing technological areas in the United States identified as the Silicon Prairie. A number of high-tech software and instrumentation companies employing about 4,000 people are located in this area.

Positions Available

  • Quality Manager

    Immediate opening for a Quality Manager (QM) to overlook the compliance with the quality plans in place (ISO 13485:2016) and to maintain continuous adherence to the quality standards.

    The QM oversees the day-to-day activities of the organization with a focus on the systems and procedures required to accomplish the company’s mission and goals in the marketplace. The candidate will establish excellence strategies and continuous improvement roadmaps with the other managers consistent with corporate objectives.

    The candidate will audit functional performance, work with leadership to resolve significant issues, and share best practices across the company. The candidate will have demonstrated the ability to implement change at all levels of an organization. The candidate will also have a demonstrated ability to drive initiatives to completion through other people without having direct supervisory responsibility. Proven problem-solving and process-focus is essential.

    Preference will be given to candidates with experience in regulatory compliance (FDA, CE). Part time and full-time positions considered.

  • Electronics Technicians

    Immediate openings for two Electronics Technician interested to join a cutting-edge and highly-technical team in a goal-oriented, challenging, and intellectual atmosphere. The Electronics Technician is a full-time position designed for a technically-oriented person with an electronics background proficient at testing and troubleshooting.

    Duties and Responsibilities include:

    • Assemble and test electronics boards
    • Assemble and test electro-optical units
    • Bench testing of assemblies
  • Electrical Engineer

    Immediate opening for a qualified Electrical Engineer with a strong interest in analog and digital design.

    Manages and participates in the design and development efforts of the engineering team on multi-disciplinary projects for fluorescence and biomedical instrumentation involving the use of light sources and detectors. Independently evaluates and applies engineering principles to fulfill project objectives.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
    • Experienced in PCB layout, construction and test techniques.
    • Experience with microcontroller and DSP hardware design techniques.
    • Experienced in digital logic circuit design using micro-controllers, DSPs, CPLDs, FPGAs, etc...
    • Experience in small signal analog conditioning circuitry design and the application of A/D and D/A’s.
    • Embedded programming experience in Assembler, VBASIC, C, C++, and VHDL languages.

    Duties and Responsibilities include:

    • Develop system level design input (specifications) for the electrical and electro-optical systems in instrumentation products.
    • Apply electrical engineering expertise to develop instrument system architecture and resolve complex issues.
    • Manage and/or lead the design effort of major electrical/electro-optical subsystem.
    • Directly apply expert knowledge in electronics and electro-optics to execute overall project assignments.
    • Interact closely with software, systems, mechanical, and electrical engineering functions to develop comprehensive solutions to design problems.
